DISTRICT 8 ELECTION PROCEDURES AND TIMELINE
FOR PANEL 52 2006-2009 Al‑Anon/Alateen Service Manual

Attached are the District 8 Election Procedures that were used for this Panel. Please read and bring any questions to the District Meeting.

District 8 Election Procedures

We are nearing the end of this three-year term. That means it’s time to start thinking about elections. The Fall Assembly will be held on October 28, 29, 30, 2011 at the Ocala Hilton. This is an important assembly because the incoming (NEW) GR’s will be electing the next incoming panel for the North Florida Area. This means that groups should be considering and electing their new GR’s in August before the 20th and the District Elections will be held in September on the 17th. All interested members can start thinking about North Florida Officer positions they would like to hold as well as coordinator positions and District positions as well.

So….next steps for our Groups?

1. It is important that the dialogue starts at the local level. We encourage Groups to discuss and identify a new Group Representative (GR) for the upcoming three year term. (By August 20, 2011)
2. New GRs will meet to select a new District Representative (DR). (September 17th)

Next steps for the District and Area?

1. Our local Al/Anon Information Services (AIS) and Intergroup will be selecting their liaisons to represent them on the AWSC. (Alateen, Answering Service, Archives etc.)
2. At the Area level, we will be electing new Officers:
   (Delegate, Alternate Delegate,Area Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary) and Coordinators (Group Records, Forum/Literature, Archives, Alateen, AAPP, Public Outreach, Web Site, P.O Box Coordinator, and Newsletter).

These are very important positions and they are new and exciting chances to carry the message of Al-Anon's hope.
Those willing to serve should give their name to their group or district representative by the next District 8 meeting.

Let it begin with me..... When anyone anywhere reaches out for help let the hand of Al-Anon and Alateen always be there, and LET IT BEGIN WITH ME!
